A visit to yf's blog reminded me of that CSS official opening ceremony, that musical production by the school. A very bad case of 'what-was-said-was-not-what-I-get'.
By 1998, I am already near the very high level of the AVA club (Hahaha.. I more enthusiastic for AVA than for Chess Club. More fun!), in terms of seniority at least. Well, sec 3 already! Then came the production. Quite looking forward to that actually, when it was first announced. Finally a production to take part in!
Yeah I took part. What I did? Or rather, what we did? Move that rostrum and flowers backstage after the speeches. The end.
And what was told to us before that, before everything started? Lightings and sound system.
And who 抢走我们的饭碗? The Choir people!!!!!!
Sometimes, I very anti-choir people, because of that principal who injected more money into it than any other ECAs (as they were called last time). And they went overseas every year! Of course, they had to fork out their own money, but that's an experience. Why am I working towards my past entry, where I said that sometimes, when you got the money, you get the experience… Oh well, back to topic.
The play. We stayed back to watch them rehearse. For what? Because we were told we will be involved. Days went past, we stayed in the control room, doing nothing. Note that at that time, there's no such thing known as “air con” in that room, only 2 fans. And one fine day, finally, we finally know that, we were not going to be involved in those electronic gadgets.
Too bad? No! If in the first place we were not going to be involved in those machines, what for we stayed back in the first place? To study for chemistry test in the control room?
No, it's not Mr Yong's fault. He did not know too. Oh well…
Ok, in the end we were given the task to move all those rostrum and plants to backstage after the speeches. Ok, we were still backstage crew. I have nothing to argue with that. But I don't like that guy who assigned us that job:
“Here comes the important people.”
Yeah, every backstage crew is important, I know that, no need to emphasize on that. Alright, he might mean well, trying to motivate (I studied MNO ok… oh no exams…), but at that time, I just felt that sentence was quite sarcastic. It's just the mood at that time, I hope… Yeah, I love working in teams, but certainly at that time, I did not like that team… But nevertheless, we did what we supposed to do (work ethics… ahh crappp) and the musical was a success.
It's been 7 years…
Yeah, talking about backstage, there was one time, when Mdm Aishah was the DM (after that “$-come” went off to somewhere), she had to scold all the students for failing to behave during assembly. At that time, I was in the control room, sitting in front of my favourite seat (Nearest to the lightings control panel). So, what I did? Switch it on, and put highest power at the spot where she was standing…. Hahaha….. in the end, she requested for us to off those lights. Yeah, those lights can be really hot… high intensity infra-red rays.. hahaha opps….
Last time, Mdm Aishah used to be living at the block next to mine, but she had since moved to another place… There was once when me and Herzberg were waiting for a bus at the bus stop near the church at Pandan, when she vroom past on her bike. Yeah she waved to us, and we waved back, and then we had some little discussion about “what ifs”, like, if she turned her head and drove into the drain or something like that…. hahahha
Yeah we were baaad…….
Hahah…. more stories next time. I've got a war to fight later…
