Week's Happenings

Monday :: Stay-home Day
Was at home the whole day, partly due to the rain, and also due to Tuesday's test. Did not study much anyway, and ended up stoning around, playing games, etc. A rather sianz day I guess.

Tuesday :: School
School as usual. Test at 10am, and then tennis in the afternoon. Due to the rain, we had to stop, change, and go to biz to stone instead. So sianz.

Wednesday :: Rain
Rainy days made me want to stay at home instead, and so I did. Was thinking of going to Suntec for a bit of jalan, but… it rained, so, play games at home lor…

Thursday :: FYP Day
Met prof in the morning. Saw simchuan at the EA foyer and his poster about some nano filters. Luckily we ECE don't have such poster thing… Saw yingfong at the EA lift. She was also going to met her prof. My talk with prof was the shortest in 3 weeks. 30 minutes. More or less things were alright, but I still have something else to tie up first. Back to FYP lab to change some MatLab things, lunch with ben, back to lab, lunch with joan, back to lab, and decided to leave at 4.15pm.

Went over to SE service centre opposite IMM. It looked like the fixing of the phone may cost a bomb, but they will call me if the costs exceed my expectations. Hopefully they call, unless I am going to make some noise over it. I think it was just a wiring problem in the phone, and not the speaker spoil, so hopefully they don't go act clever and change that speaker and charge me for it.

And the most funny thing was, while waiting for the lift to go back down to the first floor, I saw vera! Why I see her like… everywhere? Wahaha… Let's see, saw her at causeway point before, on the bus, at PS carrefour, and now even SE service centre… er… Lol. Say hi to each other, ofcourse. But why she never come earlier, then I have someone to talk crap with while waiting at the so sianz place, with vending machines that required you to put in money for drinks. Maybe that is the result of outsourcing. I still like Fujitsu service centre the most.

Friday :: Lessons, Tennis, and Gathering
Lessons in the morning. Followed by tennis in the afternoon. And there were so many girls learning how to play tennis! Omg… it's like a stampede of girls. STAMPEDE. Lol. And I paid $4 for a lesson that I can only stay for 15 minutes. The coach came over to our side only at 5pm. What to do?

Met victor in school, and then zhixiang at the mrt station. Who else were there at breeks yesterday? Junguang, xiaoling, shiaohan, linchuan, ziwei, qiuyan, bernadette, xinhong, shunde, suen cin, I shall talk more about breeks later.

Went home after that. Nothing else to do already, and was also very tired. Zzz… and now for the review in the next post.

If One Can Control One's Dream…

If you can control your own dream, what will you dream of?

Will you dream of having lots of hunks/babes surrounding you? Will you dream of trashing someone in a game? Will you dream of getting married with the one you love? Will you dream of going places?

If you can control your own dream, sleeping will be a very busy thing to do I guess, because you have to think, even when you are asleep. Usually, dreams are sort of thoughts throughout your life. Most of the time, things don't make much sense in dreams. One moment, you can be in school, and the next moment, you might be at some place eating. And usually, when you wake up, you don't remember much detail about the dream.

Which is good. Lol. Imagine you knowing all the details… wow you must be a dreamer. Lol!

Have anyone attempted "dream planning"? Lol. For example, thinking hard about something, be it a person, an object, a place, or whatever you want to think of, and see if you will dream of it later. Heh… That is hard I guess. Maybe your mind will be so active, it takes a longer time for your brain to 'slow down', and thus, less time in REM mode, and therefore, no dreams at all. And maybe that explains why tired people are easy dreamers.

I may be wrong however. I am no dream expert here. Lol. Maybe some of you out there can share your experiences.

It's interesting to know that, at some point in time, most of us should have had some similar dreams. Maybe, falling from great heights or being chased after by someone (usually, nightmares are common I guess). I did have these dreams before. It's actually fun for me (omg I must be psycho), because I think it's exciting, perhaps?

And last night I have an interesting dream. In the dream, I was an observer. I think it was a classroom environment, with each person having his/her own table. It's about a guy, giving a girl something (I forgot what it was), and the girl just picked that thing up, and returned it to the guy. And I thought it was something amusing. Lol ok that's all I can remember.

In real life, I hope this will not happen to me too often. Lol. Dreams, I think it will be good to have such 'scenes'. You know, train up one's courage to withstand rejections, etc.

Wahaha okieee I must be mad.

But still, it's interesting. Dreams are jumbled thoughts somehow linked together to form a big jigsaw puzzle that looked like a bigger puzzle. Lol. And so, don't think too much into dreams. Enjoy them! Happy dreaming… Lol!

Sony Ericsson 'Hidden' Service Menu in Mobile Phones

Ok folks, it's almost 12am, and we are in session here.

-.-

I think, not a lot of people know about the service menu in SE phones. But seriously, it is a good place to test handphone functions, and especially useful when you are getting 2nd hand phones.

Before you start, make sure you have already defined a shortcut for your 'right' button or directional pad. If you did not define a shortcut before, the phone should prompt you if you want to define one. My 'right' shortcut key points to the calendar. It is very handy to have access to a calendar with just 1 button.

Next, while in standby mode (as in, the screen showing your beautiful wallpaper of your favourite, be it flowers, boyfriend, girlfriend, crush, idol, or whatever), press the following keys in sequence:

[right] [*] [left] [left] [*] [left] [*]

got it?

Again.

Right – Star – Left – Left – Star – Left – Star

You should see the service menu. There are some fun functions in there. Have fun! Lol…

I googled my own name, and the facebook page comes out top

Heh… I am ranked #1. As in, my name. Or rather, Facebook. What to do, when the whole world, there's only 1 unique me.

That also means that it is very easy to find me if I ever got lost in some yaya world out there. And that also means that when people know my full name, I have no privacy…

But who dares to claim 'privacy' when he/she is connected to the world wide web? Your IP address is unique, and your identity is known to 'privileged' people. I have to put the quotes, because besides the ISPs, hackers, bug users, virus spreaders, are all very interested to know you, only that they need to know you more on the financial side: banking, ecommerce, etc.

Nowadays, everyone (I hope) should have one form of anti-virus software or another. Some have more 'powerful' firewall, and some with lots of ram to spare, install malware scanners. Note the 's'. Lol.

Currently, I am using AVG Anti-virus Free Edition. It features daily updates. As long as you are connected to the web, when you start up the computer for the day, it will attempt to download the latest updates and install them automatically. It is good enough of me I guess, with periodic red window alerts here and there when I hopped into websites trying to install or run strange codes or programs on my computer.

Previously, my laptop came with Trend Micro Office Scan preinstalled by the school. I had a 'fun' time trying to update the virus signatures, and even more 'fun' time trying to uninstall it (password protected, and not by me). In the end? Reinstall everything, just to get rid of it. Virus don't understand the word 'scare-crow'. Without the latest signatures, it's of not much use, except for proventing you from doing some stupid (and perhaps highly dangerous) things to your computer.

So, how do you know that your anti-virus is actually doing something, and not just sitting there and waiting for something to happen?

Try the anti-virus test file from EICAR! You can read more about it from that link. That link actually contains some test files for your testing purposes. EICAR test files are widely recognised. Theoretically, the files pose no harm to your computer, except maybe by taking up 68 bytes of your hard disk space for storage.

I did a test, long ago, and again now, to see if my anti-virus program is awake or sleeping. It's wide awake!

You should be able to see some anti-virus program warning about that file being a virus when you try to download one of the files (maybe, not the text one). If you see that, congratulations. If not, maybe you should start investing on a working anti-virus.

Happy testing!

Week Updates

Ok, finally time to crap abit here. It's been some time since the last update about tagboards.

Basically the past week was a self-imposed busy week, by doing more FYP than usual, and going for 2 career talks. 1 of the career talks treated us like king, while the other 1 was very quiet and nothing much. And yes, that means that I was in formal wear for 2 days last week. And lucky (or unlucky, depending on which way you see things) for me, both days were rainy days.

I thing for sure was that, it's time for me to grab another formal long sleeve shirt. I am looking forward to get myself a green one. Not those bright ones, but darker hue. Nowadays, I think green is a cool colour. Even my bag has a bit of a dark greenish grey colour. The bday slippers are green too. It's like, you can just stand among trees, and no one will be able to notice you…

Or rather, I have enough blue things.

Sometimes, it makes me wonder, why do I have so many blue things? Not that I don't like blue, I like it. It's a cool, mysterious, quiet, and calm colour. It can be as cheerful as the sky, and it can be as sad as the drizzle. It all depends on how one chooses to see things.

Maybe one fine day, I shall grab an 'army' to shop for clothes. But then, come think of it, most of my guy friends are not those shopping types. I have friends that are very impatient when it comes to shopping, and will not be interested in things that do not concern them. And one thing that I have realised over the years: I can always go shopping with a girl with no problem at all. She can spend lots of time trying this and that, and I don't mind at all. Maybe it's the variety of things to try (she/they try, not me ok), the different combinations to give different outcomes, and maybe, the things that you just cannot find in guys.

So whoever is too free, can find me go shopping some time (not any time. Some time).

Played some tennis with Chris on Friday afternoon. I think I can control a rally pretty well, if not for that back problem. It's easy to tell whether I am feeling anything back there, and down on the left. Just look at the way I reach for the ball, and the way I hit. When I am not feeling any pain, it's service aces. When there's pain, it's probably double faults.

Ok, not really. But I really love backhand shots. I love hitting backhands to others' backhands. I love hitting backhands to the base line. I love hitting backhands to lop the opponent. But I still love service aces more. I want more service aces.

Went for a 80-minute FNA quiz on Saturday afternoon. The quiz was alright. I think I passed. At least 5 wrong. There goes my ace mark. But it's ok. I don't mind. After that, I went to Orchard with Ben and Marie (should be, I tagged along, for a bit of their journey) after Jiahui dropped us off at the Dover MRT Station.

The train was crowded. I had to stand with my hands pressing on the ceiling near the door, and improving on my balancing skills. While taking MRTs, I rather be standing right in the middle, between the 2 rows of seats, at the connectors, or right at the glass panels near the door, not between the door. There's this saying that goes '2 heads are better than one', but on a MRT, I think couples have great balancing skills, because '4 legs are better than 2'. Obviously I only have 2 legs, so, I have nothing much to say about that.

Went over to Borders and grabbed that book which cost me $38.50. I hope it's a nice book. I hope I will not fall asleep from reading it. Anyway, it's an assignment from the tutor, so I have to read that book. Had White Chocolate Dream (no cream, no cream!) and a Chicago Cheesecake from Coffee Bean (no staff discounts this time, not at Weelock). That was my lunch for the day.

By the time we go our separate ways, it was 4pm. Took 143, changed to 189 at West Coast, and switched to 105 at Clementi to IMM. Bought bread and some other stuff, and then home.

That's one Saturday gone. Just like that.

The 'best' thing that happened during the past week was my phone failure. I could not hear any sound when I answer a call. That was my W850i. And then, I switched over to K610i. The best part? It had the same problem also! 2 phones, same problems at almost the same time. The best thing was, the day when I switched over to K610i, I was still talking to Ben while on my way down to the lab in school. Something was very wrong. Maybe I will make my way down to SE service centre and see what they can do about these 2 phones.

And in the mean time, I have to answer calls using the hands-free kit. The only problem was that whenever I put on the kit, no one called, bu when I took it off, the phone will ring some time later. Murphy's Law.

Sunday was spent stoning around and solving bugs for the whole afternoon, with TV, movies, dramas, news, more drama, variety shows, sleep in between. From the sentence, you can actually tell, that I did not do much on this day.

The tme now is almost 11.15pm. I have another test on Tuesday.

Which means, I should really sleep soon, and wake up early tomorrow to study. It's a free day anyway, and I do not foresee myself in school.

I shall post more next time.

HS Board Upgrade

Currently, instead of looking at FYP, I am looking at my board, and I am upgrading it.

Or rather, modifying it.

Therefore, the board may look strange from time to time, due to constant changing of codes here and there, so… if you failed to write any tag, heh, consider you suay. Er, no. Consider it as down at that point in time, and try again a few hours later.

Sux Tennis

Sux tennis day.

Service like shit. Rally like shit. Return like shit. Felt like shit.

Yeah. As one plays more and more tennis, the expectations per game becomes higher.

But really, could not find the serving momentum today. Very wrong. Maybe it's the weather. Maybe it's something else. I don't know.

Never mind. Better games next time.
