Shelves Time

A few days ago, my table looked like this:

A few days later, it has transformed into this:

Yay I got a shelf above my table!~

Totally D.I.Y, I bought the frames yesterday, while shopping around at Ikea with Emmanuel. I also bought a little stool… hmm… not a bad stool. Lol. Think I will need one more trip to Ikea to get some more things one fine day. Hee…

Ate yummy meat balls at Ikea! And steak! Lol… more more more!

Went for pool session at night with Zhenyao and Lijian. An ok game. Every Friday, I will see Eugene there, playing with some friends. Yesterday, Pang was no where to be seen. Lol…

Went home and stone around till 4am, and woke up at don't-know-what-time to close the windows as it was raining. Woke up again at around 8+. Awake since. Did the shelf thing in the morning, making lots of noise with the drilling part.

Yup that's all for now.

Module Evaluation (2005/2006 Semester 2) + Updates

Finally, the examinations have ended. And now, it is about time for some module evaluation.

EE2004 – Electronic Devices
This a module on semiconductor theory. Can be very complicated and confusing. I read through the notes countless times, and in the end, things just don't get registered in my head. Too confused, lots of equations. And even when supplied with formula sheet, one will also need to know what those variables mean. I don't. Not too good I guess. Good tutor, however. He explained things really clearly, and emphasized more on concepts rather than just flashing the answers.

EE2005 – Electronics
This is a module on calculations and the usage of devices rather than the physics behind them, which were covered in EE2004. Actually, this is not a hard module, but then, concepts have to be very clear. One needs to know what to do at which stage. I don't, and end up confusing myself sometimes. Can be complicated at times, but tutor made them looked so easy. Another good tutor, which gave us a quick review on topics before going into the tutorial questions.

EE2007 – Microprocessor Systems
Interesting module, but very rushed for time for projects. It's like jumping blindly into a project without knowing what I am actually trying to do. It's not that I did not plan. It's just that, we learn more things as we go along, and it will be so troublesome to change things. Actually I enjoyed this module more than the rest,  because of hands-on activities. But then, towards the end of the module, things get more and more boring, because they were teaching about hardware, and we were only studying the theory. No hands-on. So dry…

EE2011 – Engineering Electromagnetics
A module that I will get really excited over it and still forget about it. Quite interesting, if not for the first lecturer and a super knowledgeable but super fast tutor. It's very satisfying once you managed to solve a question and compare your answer with the standard solution and you realise that you got it correct. Lots of waves here and there.

GEK1536 – Computation and Machine: From Ancient to Modern
A very relaxed module. Interesting! I like it! Learning about things that I have never seen before: Egyptian numbers, Babylonian number system, Roman, Greek, etc etc etc. I did all the tutorials!

LSM 1301 – General Biology
Another relaxed module. Labs were interesting but then, not really that fun, because it's only 1 hour. Interesting. Good for non-biology students, but for me, I have 'O' levels Biology background and LSM1304 background, and so, I let go of this module slightly, as the final exam is open-book. The exam teaches one regarding textbooks: glossary and index sections are very helpful.

After my last paper, I took 963 from the AYE bus stop, supposedly with a plan to go to Causeway Point. In the end, I alighted at Bukit Panjang Plaza. Suddenly off-mood, don't know why. Walked around the shopping mall, and went to take LRT to Chua Chu Kang. Thought of finding Jianliang for lunch, but then, decided against it. Went to take 188 to IMM, and bought some stuffs from Giant and DIY shop.

Upon reaching home, I began to cut the wood that I have bought, and made measurements here and there, and there's the end product:

See my keyboard and mouse? I made the extension. I freed up one large area on my desk!

And now, my hands were really tired from all the sawing… ouch… I still have my shelf to build.

Here's the oven that I have bought from NTUC. What's cooking? Don't know. Some flour I think. Oven toasters are slightly harder to use as they make things chaota faster… Hmm… but better than nothing. Oh well.

Erm… purple flower…

You Are a Purple Flower
A purple flower tends to represent success, grace, and elegance.
At times, you are faithful like a violet.
And other times, you represent luxury, like a wisteria.
And more than you wish, you find yourself heartbroken like a lilac.

Last paper (but not for me…)

Alright, today marks the last of the core modules. But it does not mark the end of my exam mugging yet… aw…

I still have a very last paper on Thursday: LSM1301 General Biology. After that, then I will comment on all my modules, the way I used to do it for the past semesters. 6 in total. All with final examinations. And I can still survive (I hope). It's just the choosing of extra modules to suit one's timetable, and ofcourse, the interest to keep one going for those modules.

Yeah, core modules are, most of the time, boring as compared to cross-faculty and general education modules. Probably, it is due to the fact that, core modules are always there, always engineering, and mostly confusing. Lol… other modules are slightly easier.

Like for my GEM, I did not study much. And for my LSM, I have not even started reading.

Oh well…

For now, back to EE2005.

It's Oven Time~~~

Ok, before the thing about the oven. Finally, I have brought in the phone again. Now I have a phone on my desk. Till after exams, it just has to sit where it is sitting, for now: on top of the printer!

And yes, I might consider Ikea shelves instead. I think I will need a stronger support for the board. Shall go Ikea. Anyone? Thursday, around 12pm? Poached Salmon? Swedish Meatballs?

Plan for Thursday (Flexible):

  • Swim
  • Pool
  • Bball
  • Ikea
  • High Street Centre (fix m:robe)
  • Bball stuff
  • Skates
  • Bicycle
  • Stone

1 thing for sure: I don't want to go straight home after my last paper. This sem will be quite ok, because, people who are out to spoil my mood will not be present.

Even if present, it's not going to affect me anymore. Things change.

And while I was telling people that I will be digging Dennis out, he smsed me just now asking if there's bball tomorrow! Lol… too bad there's none for the time being…

Yeah. Oven time. Went over to JE NTUC to get that oven. As advertised in the papers. Heehee… Cake timeeee… And yes, no one will be able to taste my 'secret recipe'. I have become selfish. I have forgotten the meaning of 'sharing'… wahahhaa!

Dead Meat…

Yes, that's what I think: Dead meat. EE2004.

This particular paper will be sat for at 9am later. I wonder how am I going to clear this module. Just cannot picture certain things…

How to score will depend on how to remember, and that means CONCEPT. Concept must be clear, as Dr Hong said.

My concepts are still not that clear. Some parts are blur. Other parts, oh well, disastrous…

I wondered how much of the paper I will be able to do later.

Oh well…

See how ba.

2 More Down! 3 More To Go!!!

EE2007 was quite alright I think. But then, papers that I thought were quite alright turned out to be CMI most of the time. I wondered why.

GEK1536 was also quite acceptable. Not too many stun parts.

But then, on both days, things that I thought I would give a miss, came out in the paper…

How? Tried to 'smoke' lor…

Saturday's paper… will be one BIG problem: I don't seem to remember most of what I have spent studying for the past few weeks!!!

I wondered why…

1 Down. 5 More

oh well, if nothing goes wrong, everyone should have died together with the paper yesterday. EE2011. I did not really know what I was doing for the first part of the question. Best… Time ticked by, and some questions required me to think abit before I can attempt to do.

Oh well. Concept was not at home yesterday. If concepts were there, it was not a difficult paper at all. Or rather, time is not enough to think also!

Time is important. No time, no marks.

Crap.

Ok next papers: EE2007 and GEK1536. Kill them all, or we will be killed.

Realised 1 thing: The more I was assured of a subject, the worse my results will be. I wondered why. Same for the 2 programming modules. And now, it's this gem module. I tried all my homework, did swee swee, but the grades don't reflect my work. Oh well, it's always like that. It sux.

But never mind, it's just luck.

But still, it sux.
