I have been talking about loss contingencies. And now, I no longer think it is a loss contingency. It's not even a probable loss.

It's a REALISED LOSS. A realised loss will bring down net income. But I guess it's an extraordinary item. Or exceptional. Or unusual.

And I thought having 3 in a group is bad enough. Now it feels like there's only 2 alive.

Let's get this SHIT over and done with.

Had a good day relaxing and stoning around. Finally, the EE3001 report is settled! The bill was…. oh well… EXPENSIVE. Now I know how Goh Brothers survived over there… Played tennis with Ben while waiting for the 2 books to be printed. Zzzz… tennis skills? Lost. I think I have to find a more suitable grip…

About Exam Schedule…

Been stoning around so much that I decided to log in to CORS and take a look at my exam dates.

6 modules, 4 final papers. nicely spaced out. I have checked. 2 May is a Wednesday! Hmm… I shall keep my options open. Usually, things don't go the way I want on the last day of exams. That has been proven over the past 5 semesters. And so, I do not wish to plan. Whoever is free and don't mind jalan jalan, then ok. Otherwise, I shall just start on my wandering journey. It's about time I visit Causeway Point. Haven't really been there for a long time. Hmm… It's not that there's something special there, it's just that, I can simply take a bus from SRC! But…. who knows where the last paper will be held at? I can only be sure that the first 2 papers will be at MPSH. The other 2, with total class size of less than 100, should be at "home ground" I guess.

And yes, Wednesday's lab test was… I don't know. I did all, but who knows if my answers are correct or not? Another 25% more to go, this coming Wednesday, and out goes GEK2507 from my list. The following week will be EE3001 final presentation, and then, it's another module out of my sight.

That's the way.

About Good Friday…

Anyway, Good Friday reminds me of SA days…. chapel… and watching that same old video every year… Lol…

Holidays are becoming more and more sianz. No show on TV!!!! It's the usual weekday shows, nothing special. So boring. I ended up in Maple for the past 10 hours. Not continuous playing, of course. Just letting it run in the background while I do other stuff, alt-tab in once in a while, kill some mateons… etc… Duhz…

I have no comments. I don't wish to comment at this point in time. I will only say: good luck to us. But I am confident that we will do a not-too-bad job. Yeah!

When a report is, erm, bad, stunt the reader with some awesome graphics and colours to cover it up. Wahaha!!! That is just a suggestion.

I am getting back my animation knowledge. Yay… But actionscript is not back home yet. Aw… Ok, at least the animation did not turn out too awful…

About Listening…

I was wondering, how many people actually take my views seriously? A sudden thought. Perhaps it's a good friday, that's why the thought. Heh.

Sometimes, I do things without asking. Why? Sometimes, I do things quietly. Why? Sometimes, I don't feel like doing anything. Why?

I think, because no one in the world wants to know what, how, for whom, I am doing.

And so, why am I blogging??? Lol… Who knows.

Sometimes I think I am just too hot-tempered. Sometimes I think I am just too timid. Sometimes I think I am just too emotional.

I must learn to be more stable in what I think. I guess that will be hard, because, being me, I have tried to take in variables from other people. How they will feel, what they will think, how to make them happy, how to not make them sad.

But what about myself? Or what has others done, to me, for me? It's not that I require much returns for what I put in. It's not that I want returns. It's not that I want fair treatment.

In this world, the word 'fair', is already unfair.

I have lots of things to do. I want to do lots of things. But I just can't. I don't have the ability. I don't have the motivation. I don't have the support.

Had a good bball session in the afternoon. 9 people in total. Shiok ar… not that hot too. No stunts for today though. Actually, it's me losing the bball feel. Hmmm… it's just like, me, losing the tennis feel too. I forgot how tennis felt already. Hmm… never mind.

And just now, I was trying to tahan a super powerful headache. I wondered why… at least now, I am ok. Or rather, feeling better than just now. The strange thing is, today's sun was not that strong. My answer? Lack of water ba. Or maybe certain minerals. Hmm…

At least now I am more ok than 3 hours ago.

Tried out EE4302 tutorial questions. Hmmm… It doesn't seem too hard, but 1 thing is, am I supposed to remember all the very strange formulae????? omg…

What a quiet Apr 1… haiz …

Anyway, I will be consolidating all my blog addresses into one. I am removing the rest.

Soon, everything at enchantedlove.net will cease to operate. That's part of my plan. It's been too long. From 15 May 2003, till now.

That domain name is too idealistic. Come think of it, it's full of shit in there. So it's better to remove it. But I will always remember ONE incident. How people "walked out" when the server was down for a long time. And another more recent incident. And more minor ones.

That's when people have a choice. They want to change, so be it. I cannot, and even if can, I will not, stop them.

But once they are out, don't expect, or rather, don't allow them to return anytime in the near future. Even if allowance is made, things will be different. So different.

Imagine the amount of hate possible. I offered everything I had. But when I need the support, people just turned their heads elsewhere.

But then, I cannot hate. That's not me. I will just make a mental note. A note that will stay on. Forever.

Ok enough of Sunday crap. Time to go. About today's happenings, that Mr Law should have cooperated with me la… things will be so much better. Lol… Never mind. Next year! Lol… We have the same ideas in mind, only that the timing was slightly off. Wahaha… still room for improvement.

It's been 18 days, and I never got a reply from my academic advisor. And they talk about contacting them, to talk, for advice, for whatever… Now, I don't even know how he looks like. Well done.

Maybe I should just flood him with email one fine day. Or even better, cc a copy to the person recommending us to contact our advisor. Maybe, that will be interesting. Lol…

But then, I not that evil, so I shall see what happens next.

Ok, due to popular demand… wahaha… I got 2 more languages up my sleeve: Hokkien and Cantonese! That makes me a super-lingual person. Duhz. Big deal. Wahaha…

Sometimes, it's interesting to look around, how little children can pick up hokkien and cantonese and any other dialect without anyone teaching him/her. Lol. ie attend school to learn english, mother tongue. I guess, the key to learn a language is to use it as often as possible. To use it as often means that you have to find like-minded people that speak the language within your frequency range. Mutual understanding.

That's probably the main reason why I don't seem to pick up the 2 foreign languages.

Went for a swim in the late morning. Quite a shiok day to swim, with a big sun. Did not swim much actually, but just slack around, talking, joking, looking… Hmm… Nothing much today, except for 2 babes sun-tanning, each at different ends of the pool. Duhz. And what the zzz, they pay $$ to go in, wear their bikini, and stone there on the suntan chair, and basically bake themselves for hours, and go home. Not a drop of water. Well done. Yeah if you see it another way, yes their skin had become well done. Wahhahaa…

Went over to IMM for lunch and a bit of jalan jalan. Nothing much to buy, only a wireless, rechargable mouse that costs $29.90 at a member price. Jh interested? I sell it to you. Lol!

Ok, lots of things to do. 1 25% mid-term coming up on Wednesday. Haiz… Another sianz day. But at least, I don't have any lecture after that. Yay!

When lectures get lesser, it's good to note that, exams are round the corner! Lol. This sem, I did not care much about exams yet. I don't even know my exam timetable. Never mind, as long as they never clash… Lol…

Exams can really be a deep, dark issue, like MNO. Oh well never mind.

Anyway, went for interview on Monday, and at 5pm, I received an email asking me to confirm. I did on Tuesday morning, and another email came in: confirmation from school. That's all. Now I will wait for documents to come in. Oh well. 15 minutes. And formal wear?? Duhz…

Completed presenting. Knew that my presentation is going to be "piece-wise continuous", because the one who owed me a presentation slide put it that way, so I present it that way lor. Heh.

Completed the long-long lab last night. Someone managed to delete files and we lost all our readings.. Wahaha!!! Interesting… and I think the motor's gone. Something happened to it I think. Wahaha…

Ok… morning brain needs a bit of exercise, so let's take a look at today's Straits Times and try to see if there's any funny things around.

Hybrid Assistive Limb (HAL)

I typed "assistive robot" at youtube, and it gave me this interesting video. Take a look at this Hybrid Assistive Limb (opens in a new window) , or HAL, as the creator called it.

This assistive robot has been invented in 2005, and it has the potential to help older people or those with disabilities to walk or lift heavy objects.

HAL is created by Professor Yoshiyuki Sankai of the University of Tsukuba in Japan. He has integrated mechanics, electronics, bionics and robotics in a new field known as cybernics.

See the picture on the left. HAL is able to assist a person even when walking on stairs, and the latest HAL 5 is able to assist the arms in carrying heavy things.

HAL is controlled by neuro-signals. The system consists of bio-sensors placed on the surface of limbs that will sense the electric pulses that is transmitted from the brain to the muscle, and move the motor parts for that area. That translates to the wearer of the system doing less work than normal. Also, due to the fact that the system is able to react faster than the human muscles do (time needed for muscle to react to the signal), the person will not feel like he is trying to move a heavy limb.

Also, the system is able to 'learn' how the wearer moves. The initial run, the system records the person's posture and pattern motion in its database so that they can be use to better assist the person in future movements.

This system has alot of potential. I list them out here:

• rehabilitation purposes, to help people recover from lost muscle functions
• search and rescue missions, and applications where strength is required
• military applications, so that soldiers will be less tired
• with brain-computer interfacing, even people who has lost their limbs can use this system to aid in movement.
• many many more (can't think of any now. Any suggestions?)

I think this assistive limb is still not available commercially, but a website has estimated the price to be between $14 to 19k.

I think this is a very nice innovation, as it can help alot of people in their daily activities. However, what will this world be like if everyone wears one? Imagine people running around in these 'power suits'…

On another note (nothing to do with the above), people say that a grading and ranking system will allow people lower down to work harder. I don't apply that rule. I wait for people up there to fall down. It's easier to fall down than to climb up. Wahaha!!

Ranking system? Heh… it just tells me this: "when not in, don't bother".
