Yeah… Friday = Slack Day!

That was the past. But nevertheless, I went on a short shopping trip after my dental. Went to IMM and walk out with just 2 peach puffs. Went over to JE Popular to collect a magazine that's only for members. There's a 20% discount vouncher in there, and so, I used that up by buying a paper shredder. I think I will have fun shredding papers during the holidays.

And then, I was wondering what to have for lunch (note: time is 3.15pm), and finally settled for carrot cake and fried oyster? Damn unhealthy? Perhaps, but it's not that I am eating those everyday.

So sianz, today at dental. Nothing much to see. Dr Ong said that I will need probably another 6 months. On the bus also very sianz. Everywhere also sianz. But there's one trend. It's holidays, and alot of school girls are going to shopping centres in groups. I wonder where are all the guys? Hide at home and play computer games?

Hmmm…. I wonder if this is true, but, if you really swim breast stroke, and really use your arms and hands, you will be able to train your chest…

Don't know? Hmmm… Continue and swim breast stroke, and see what happens lor… hahaa… Not that I want only to swim that style, but, can someone teach me another??? I need a coach!

That's only the second time, I think, that I have seen a bandwidth exceed error.

For now till the end of this month, no songs will be heard, unless they are already in your computer. Some stupid websites have been so efficient to sniff out song links.

Ok, end-of-exam project. To investigate the usage of 'encrypted links'. To prevent people from leeching. And also, to cut down on bandwidth.

Sorry ar… but then, Mr Law already very good to give me an extra 200mb to survive till the end of the month, so, I cannot afford to use it all up. 200mb only requires 100 times of downloads in order to exceed.  And with the rate that my bandwidth is being used up, I think, if I did not remove those files, this will be down again by 1am. And so, bare with the no-song period ok…

Now, back to signals. I am still unable to picture the signal… How am I going to continue like that??

Received an email regarding bandwidth usage. It's only 17 of the month, and bandwidth usage is already 80% of the total allocated 3GB.

And that forced me to add some protection. Somehow, the hotlink button in cpanel don't work. Mr Law, if you free, see how hor… 

IP recorded points to some China server, which is referring the link to some media files stored somewhere. I have removed most of them. The files stored are as a form of backup, and not for people to download indiscriminately. I don't support piracy by letting people to get such files directly from the server. Want the songs? Go! Get original!

Next, I reduced a 6mb file to 2mb. That will cut down the usage of bandwidth. Quality-wise, it's still acceptable. File name's still the same. A song sampled at 44.1kHz, 192kbps and another sampled at 44.1kHz, 64kbps has little difference when precision is not so particular. The file size, as it can be seen, is reduced by 3 times! Note that we cannot have the best of both worlds. Good quality == big files, small files == poor quality.

Let's revise on Signals. at 44.1kHz, it means it has 44 100 samples/second, and at 192kbps = 196 608 bits/second. And so, 1 sample is 196608/44100 = 4.5bit? Erm… opps… perhaps, 4 bit? No? Don't know la. Can be done. Somehow.

Luckily I went swimming yesterday, or else, it’s going to be so sianz.

Saw that uncle swimmer in the pool again yesterday. Said “hi” by smiling at him.. wahahaa.. And I met Zhenyao when I was out, and he was on his way in. Second time already! Last time was he got lesson in the morning. This time, was he woke up only at 10. 10am, I was already on 176 lor…

This one was taken last Thursday, when I was walking out to the expressway to take a bus. Now they have 5 languages. They added in Korean! Hahahaa… interesting eh… Erm, no, the SFI vehicle just happened to be there when I pressed “capture”…

Bought this drink from 7-eleven after my swim, at JE. Hmmmm…. not too used to it. It’s like plain water, plus a bit of coffee smell. A bit. It’s like diluted coffee without milk and sugar. Ahhh!

And then, this article about men’s briefs. Well… I think it’s all the advertisement on men’s briefs that we seen out there… Some really funny looking. Hmm.. are people really buying those to wear? I think this will be the hottest news for this week? 33 new cases of illegal music downloading referred to Police. It looks like they have got the support to hunt down people already. Very determined to kill off piracy. But… can it be done? Really? It needs alot of effort and resources.

But I think the use of resources is little as compared to revenue loss… Perhaps…

Yes, piracy is bad, but how to stop it?

It looks like “piracy” refers to “illegal downloading and uploading of intellectual properties without their respective owner's consent”. Simply put, “illegal distribution of copyrighted music”.

And a look at an article on copyright at Wikipedia makes me go dizzy.

Since a song is copyrighted, including the background music and all, what will happen if, let's say, you have a kala version of a song, you sang and recorded your singing, and then, you send it to the whole world. Is that infringement also?

Somehow, I think so… hahaha…

And “downloading” means the retrival of files from certain user or server, on visit to this page, you are considered as “downloading the song”, right? Visiting websites of people who use these songs will lead you to download the songs unknowingly, and isn't that infringement also?

I think they will need to print out a handbook about copyright issues. The book will be the thickness of a dictionary, and I wonder if anyone will read it in the first place.

Most of them are males and do not believe they will get caught.

Of course they are young! This is the age range where most of them stare at computer screens everyday! And of course, most are males! Because the females will ask, “eh, you have this?” and the males will go all out, searching frantically and downloading, trying to be hero or something.

Bought 豆花 and 豆浆 and pancakes to school! As breakfast! Yummy and supposedly healthy stuff. Stoned around.. and really stoned around.

Surprisingly, there’s not much people in school today! The tables were very very empty, and the whole place is so quiet…

If only the rain did sustain till the end of the day. I would have been more productive this way.

I have to say that, no, it’s not your fault. It’s my fault for being not that organised. Sorry, if the wrong message has been interpreted… =)

Had a “hot date” with Ivan, my primary school classmate/ ex-bball fren. He had his physio at NUH, and had made a lunch appointment with me. Haha… I had not seen him for quite some time, since the last primary school gathering at Orchard some time back, when my hair was still a bit coloured. He could really walk like a normal person, except at the stairs, where he would limp a bit.

Happy lor, he, MC till almost ORD…. and so eng running around meeting friends for lunch… lol

It’s proven that a guy, or rather me, cannot outrun a Toyota Altis which was on its way from Clementi MRT station to Engin block. Or rather, I did not run all the way ba… I took a break at the toilet first before I continued my trip down from the 7th floor of block EA. Nice car… Aw…

Everyone has cars nowadays… makes me so jealous.
